After selling prints of my photography for ten years I have mastered strategies to get your work noticed and build an audience that collects your work. I've sold over 917 prints online, have hundreds of images licensed to clients, and have become well known for my work. With over 1.7 million visits to my website I am averaging over 4,000 visits a day.
These are my top 5 essential tips for selling your photography prints online:
- Have a strong portfolio ~ Images that stand out from the crowd. Buyers purchase images that connect with their emotions.
- Build a strong website ~ Post only your best work.
- Arrange your website so the eye buys ~ Make a very strong first impression. Put your best images at the top. Rearrange the images so they look good next to each other by color. Arrange images in collections with the best images on the cover of the collection.
- Drive traffic to your website ~ Most important!! Share links to your images from your personal website. Make it easy for people to get to your images in one click. Get more eyes on your art as possible.
- Connect with people and develop trust ~ Use meaningful posts on social media (Educate, entertain, inspire). Posts that are authentic, informative, and meaningful will do better in the Facebook algorithm than if you only promote your brand. Focus on stories that engage your audience that they will want to watch and talk about.
